Al-Mandalawi inaugurates the activities of the first forum for the National Plan for Human Rights in Iraq

     The Acting Speaker of the Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, inaugurated the activities of the first national forum for the National Plan for Human Rights in Iraq (2021-2025). 

    “The forum, organized by the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee under the theme "The Role of Parliament in Enhancing Human Rights in Iraq According to International Mechanisms," was attended by the Minister of Justice, Minister of Migration, ministry deputies, representatives from the Cabinet, the Supreme Judicial Council, diplomatic missions, and international organizations,” The media office of the Acting Speaker of the Parliament stated in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.


    Al-Mandlawi, urged the swift selection of members for the Human Rights Commission's third term. 


     
    He discussed the National Human Rights Plan approved by the Iraqi government, considering it part of their commitments to citizens and international institutions concerned with this matter. Al-Mandlawi expressed Parliament's commitment to promoting a culture of human rights and overseeing proper implementation, fully supporting efforts within its constitutional authority in legislation and oversight.
     
    He highlighted the need to fulfill constitutional and international obligations to strengthen human rights in Iraq.
