Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Sunday, with a group of residents and notables from Al Madina District, located in the north of Basra Governorate.

The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) “During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that his visit to Basra reflects the government's approach to reaching the farthest points, listening to citizens, and addressing their needs. He highlighted the reopening of factories that had been idle since 2003 and discussed with the local government the service and social realities of the province, including the obstacles and challenges to progress”.

The statement added “The Prime Minister pointed out the government's work priorities that align with the citizens' actual needs, stressing that discussions about services and development cannot proceed without ensuring security and stability. This can only be achieved with the support of the esteemed tribal communities, just as they defended Iraq during the fight against ISIS following the Fatwa of the Supreme Religious Authority. He emphasized the importance of resolving tribal conflicts and facilitating the work of state institutions”.

The statement continued “The Prime Minister announced that all requests, especially those related to services, would be addressed. A committee representing federal ministries with full authority will visit the Governorate of Basra, hold a special meeting for North Basra, and take all necessary decisions”.

The statement added “The Prime Minister stated that enhancing service quality for citizens demands societal awareness, combating corruption, strengthening moral principles, and responsible conduct in public service departments”.
