Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani discussed, today, Thursday, with a coalition of Malaysian companies the Baghdad Metro and Najaf-Karbala train projects.
A statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani received the head of the alliance of Malaysian HSS and CHSS companies, Tan Srik Ona Sitam Balam, who took over the advisory work for the Baghdad metro and Karbala-Najaf train projects.” This was in the presence of the Malaysian Charge d'Affairs in Iraq, Muhammad Shahir Sabiruddin.
The statement added, "The meeting witnessed a review of the coalition's work on the Baghdad metro projects and the Najaf-Karbala train, and the steps that were implemented in preparing and setting up the project in all its stages, as well as research into removing any obstacles or challenges that may arise in the implementation timetable.".
Al-Sudani pointed out during the meeting: “Iraq’s aspiration towards strengthening relations with Malaysia, and its welcoming of the entry of Malaysian companies known for their integrity into the Iraqi market and their participation in development efforts and construction of infrastructure,” stressing that “the government provides everything that would facilitate the work of these companies and strengthen their ties with its counterparts in the Iraqi private sector, especially after the reopening of the Malaysian embassy in Baghdad.".
The statement continued, "Al-Sudani sent his greetings to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, through the Charge d'Affaires," stressing, "his aspiration to exchange official visits between the two countries as soon as possible, and to discuss strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.".
For his part, Sitam Balam stressed his company's desire to expand areas of cooperation with Iraq and enter into various partnerships, noting "the company's involvement in training Iraqi cadres for further integration into the implementation of the metro and train projects."
