The Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Amr Ezzat Salama, confirmed on Monday, that the conference of the Association of Arab Universities, hosted by the University of Baghdad this year, "is one of the most important and successful conferences," considering the call of the Minister of Higher Education, Naeem Al-Aboudi, to establish the Higher Education Zone "an excellent step."
“This session of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities comes on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Union by a decision of the Council of the League of Arab States in 1964, and for the first time the General Conference is held in Baghdad. We are all happy, including my fellow university presidents amidst the distinguished attendance. We are happy with our presence on Baghdad land, with the invitation, and with all the facilities and organization that we saw,” Salama told the Iraqi News Agency - INA.:
He added, "The Ministry of Higher Education, the Iraqi government, and the University of Baghdad provided very distinguished facilities that made this conference one of the most important and successful conferences of the Association of Arab Universities."
“The call of the Iraqi Minister of Higher Education, Naeem Al-Aboudi, to establish and announce the Arab Higher Education Zone project under the Association of Arab Universities, is an excellent and important initiative at the global and international level, as we at the Association of Arab Universities will adopt it and work to achieve it as quickly as possible, just as we have adopted the classification initiative of Arab League for Universities that launched from Baghdad in 2018," he explained.
During his speech at the Association of Arab Universities conference, which was hosted by the University of Baghdad and attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Minister of Education, Naeem Al-Aboudi, called for the establishment and announcement of the Arab Higher Education Zone, stressing, “This project includes a road map for developing, confronting challenges, and expanding the circle of joint work between Arab higher education institutions, supporting, establishing and reforming institutions and developing solutions to many of the problems facing educational institutions, similar to the European Education Development Area.”
