The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, set today, Sunday, the date for holding elections for the next round of the Kurdistan Parliament.
A statement by Kurdistan Regional Government, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Today, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, signed a regional order setting the date for holding elections for the next session of the Kurdistan Parliament,” indicating that “in accordance with the order, and based on Paragraph (Second) of Article (First) of the amended Kurdistan Region Presidency Law No. (1) Of 2005, President Nechirvan Barzani decided to set (June 10, 2024) as the date for the general elections for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament.
"According to the regional order, all concerned parties are obligated to perform and accomplish what is necessary in order to cooperate and coordinate with the Independent High Electoral Commission for the purpose of implementing this order, which will be effective as of this day, which is the day of its issuance."
