The decision to designate Baghdad as the 2025 capital of sports culture was approved by the Council of Arab Youth Ministers.
"The Council of the 47 Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, voted and approved the selection of Baghdad as the capital of sports culture for the year 2025, as there will be an appropriate agenda for the occasion of programs and activities for a whole year, to celebrate Baghdad as the capital of sports culture," according to a statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained on Thursday.
"The project that includes Iraq hosting the meetings of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, its executive office, and its supporting committees for the year 2025, after an absence of more than thirty years," the statement continued, quoting Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, who led the delegation from Iraq.
