Makki Awad, the iconic Iraqi comedian, dies at 70 after long illness

    The Iraqi Artists Syndicate mourned the passing of artist Makki Awad, who passed away on Tuesday morning.
     
    The Iraqi Artists Syndicate  expressed  in a statement, received by the Iraqi news agency-INA “ the profound sorrow at the passing of the comedian Maki Awad, who passed away earlier , extending condolences, praying that the Almighty grants him vast mercy and provides solace to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time”.
     
    Born in Baghdad in 1954, Maki Awad was a prolific Iraqi comedic actor with a significant body of work in films and theatrical productions that remain embedded in the memories of the Iraqi people. He held a diploma from the Institute of Fine Arts, a bachelor's degree in directing from the College of Fine Arts in Baghdad, and a master's degree and doctorate in media.
