Al-Mandalawi: The conditions of the region calling for more solidarity and regional cooperation

    Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed today, Thursday, that the extremely delicate and dangerous circumstances and developments taking place in the region call for greater solidarity and regional cooperation to establish security and stability in the continent of Asia.

    The media office of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the parliamentary delegation accompanying him, discussed with Sahibah Gafarova, President of the Asian Parliamentary Association, Speaker of the Council Azerbaijani National Council, ways to enhance cooperation between parliaments, governments and Asian peoples.

    During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of participation in the fourteenth plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Al-Mandalawi stressed that “the very delicate and dangerous circumstances and developments taking place in the region call for greater solidarity and regional cooperation to establish security and stability in the continent of Asia, and require many efforts to remove the obstacles that prevent Meeting the needs of the peoples of the continent.

    The statement continued, "The head of the Iraqi parliamentary delegation congratulated Azerbaijan for its presidency of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, and agreed with Gafarova to form a joint committee to activate friendship committees between the two countries and open cultural centers in Baghdad and some governorates, and to emphasize the necessity of cooperation in a number of fields to achieve common interests and facilitate visa granting procedures between the two sides.".

    The statement concluded, "Mandalawi received an invitation to attend the meetings of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Countries Movement."
