Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA that “Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, met today the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev”.
The statement added that “The meeting addressed recent developments and efforts to prevent further escalation, recognizing the potential harm to various countries in the region, including Iraq. It emphasized the negative impact on the overall situation, particularly the economic sector and energy supplies”.
It pointed out “In the meeting, the Prime Minister underscored the crucial need for ongoing international efforts, particularly from the permanent members of the Security Council, to halt the aggression against Gaza. This aggression has contributed to the regional conflict's expansion and has adversely affected the security and stability of the region”.
“For his part, Ambassador Kutrashev emphasized his country's commitment to supporting the stability and security of Iraq. He expressed a strong desire to invest in bilateral relations, aiming for increased economic partnerships that benefit the interests and prosperity of both nations” the statement added.
“The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of energy within the framework of OPEC+, as well as the contribution of major Russian companies to the strategic Development Road project, and the various projects it includes” the statement also said .
