The Ministry of Foreign Affairs - MOFA confirmed on Monday, that Iraq refuses the security escalation on the Jordanian - Syrian border.
MOFA expressed its "deep concern about the recent security developments in the region, and calls for the importance of reducing regional escalation in light of the current critical circumstances and the need to enhance joint international efforts to achieve stability," according to a statement by MOFA, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement included, "MOFA rejects the security escalation in northeastern Jordan on the border with Syria," stressing "the need to make way for the ongoing negotiations with the US side in which the Iraqi government is making efforts to reach positive understandings that serve the interest of Iraq and the region."
