Hussein: We anticipate the Spanish Defense Minister's arrival in Baghdad shortly

The Spanish Minister of Defense will soon visit Baghdad, according to Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein's announcement on Thursday. In the meantime, Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, Jose Manuel, emphasized that Spain supports Iraq's sovereignty and unity. 
 
" We discussed a range of topics and axes, including the activation of the Joint Economic Committee with Spain," Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stated during a press conference held in Baghdad, which was covered by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). He also noted that "bilateral relations between Iraq and Spain are progressing, and we expect the visit of the Spanish Defense Minister soon."

 
Hussein reiterated the need to "work to stop the war and bring humanitarian aid into Gaza," when he said, "We also discussed the security situation in the region and the war on Gaza with the Spanish foreign minister."  
 
The foreign minister emphasized the importance of holding meetings and energizing the Joint Economic Committee's work. "We also discussed bilateral relations and the role of companies, developing those relations, rebuilding infrastructure and military cooperation," he said.

 
Praising "the Spanish role in the war against ISIS and its role in sending NATO in Baghdad," Hussein emphasized "the need for cultural exchange in sending student scholarships to Spain." 
 
 "We discussed scholarships between Iraq and Spain, and we will also discuss with Baghdad the protection of foreign forces in Iraq," stated Jose Manuel, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Spanish Cooperation, during the conference.

He emphasized "his country's desire to develop second relations and activate the joint committee between the two countries," saying, "We believe in the unity and sovereignty of Iraq." 
 
 "We are discussing ways of stability in the region with the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, and we are seeking with Iraq to develop a peaceful solution and a ceasefire in Gaza," he made clear.
