Prime Minister approves the recommendations for the first gas platform of its kind establishment

    Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani approved ,on Wednesday ,the recommendations for the first gas platform of its kind establishment .

    The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that " Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, today, approved the recommendations of the competent committee to establish a fixed platform for imported gas at Al-Faw al-Kabir port  , the first of its kind in the national oil and gas sector and related infrastructure”.

    The statement added that "This came during a meeting headed by PM dedicated to following up the procedures for the implementation and operation of the fixed platform for gas import, which was approved by the Council of ministers, to ensure the continuity of gas supply from multiple sources and fill the shortage in the operation of electric stations".

     PM stressed that "launching this vital project would not have been possible without the great progress achieved in the completion of  Al-Faw al-Kabir port project and the imminent entry of its docks into service, which is part of the government's efforts to solve the problems of gas supply, the completion of the obstacle of imported gas, and the total transition to dependence on gas produced from national fields".

    The statement said that "the approved recommendations, submitted by the committee composed in this regard, included inviting  an international consulting company that oversees the technical and commercial aspects, and issuing invitations to establish a fixed platform for the import of liquefied gas in Al-Faw al-Kabir port, with all the infrastructure for this project, and connecting it to the national pipelines” .
