The three presidencies and political leaders congratulated today, Friday, the national team’s qualification for the second round of the Asian Cup after defeating its Japanese counterpart by two goals to one.
The Prime Minister said in a blog post on the (X) website, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “A big salute to the heroes of our national team, for their brilliance and victory over the Japanese team.”
He added: "You raised the name of Iraq high, as we promised you, and brought joy to the hearts of our Iraqi people everywhere. You have all our support, thanks and appreciation to the technical staff, the officials of the Football Association, and the large fans who encouraged and assisted."
For his part, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, said in a blog post on the (X) website, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Thank you to the heroes of our national team, thank you to the fans who supported, congratulations to all Iraqis on this great victory.”
For his part, Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, said: “We are very happy with the victory of our national football team over its Japanese counterpart in the Asian Cup tournament held in Doha.
In addition, Al-Mandalawi said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “As we congratulate the champions in the national team for their efforts that won the victory, we extend our great thanks to the sports fans present with the national team for the unparalleled amount of support in the stands of the match stadium, and we also extend our congratulations to our honorable people.”
He added: "We must thank the efforts of the training staff, led by Jesus Casas and his training team, for his contribution to achieving this victory alongside our national team."
The leader of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, said in a blog post on the (X) website, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We congratulate the Iraqi people and football fans on the victory of our national team against its Japanese counterpart and its qualification to the round of 16 in the Asian Nations Cup.”
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, said in his blog post on the (X) website, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Congratulations to the Iraqi people, the victory of the Mesopotamian Lions team over the Japanese team, which is considered one of the strongest teams in Asia, and its qualification for the round of 16 within the Asian Cup tournament held in Qatar.
He stated: “If this indicates anything, it indicates the clear determination and courage of the players of our Iraqi national team, the development taking place in the field of sports, and the noticeable government interest in this aspect. Thanks to the Lions of Mesopotamia, and from victory to victory.”
For his part, the head of the Al-Hikma Movement, Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim, said in his blog post on the (X) website, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Another victory for our national football team to add to its record in the Asian Nations Cup, which is taking place in State of Qatar, after defeating its rival, the Japanese national team.
He added: "As we congratulate our beloved people on this remarkable achievement, we hope that the Mesopotamian Lions will continue their journey of brilliance and raise the name of Iraq high in this important continental forum."
