A method used by the government to develop the legislative system in its entirety

    Deputy Prime Minister and Planning Minister Mohamed Ali Tamim reaffirmed on Monday that the legislative system will continue to be developed in all of its details, noting that this is one of the objectives of sustainable development for 2020–2030.
     
    "The Iraqi Legislation Day is a national, its idea was launched by the Ministry of Planning for the importance of legislation and laws in drawing the right and sound paths for development, as we cannot talk about real development without an integrated legal and legislative system," stated Tamim in his speech during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Planning on the occasion of the Iraqi Legislation Day, which was attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    "Iraq has a great legacy of legislation and laws, and it is the first country whose ancient sons put the first obelisk of laws, that is, the obelisk of Hammurabi and the subsequent great development over long centuries," he continued. "Iraqi legislation has witnessed an important qualitative leap in the modern era by approving the permanent Iraqi constitution for the year 2005," he said. "This is the first Iraqi constitution that was voted on by the people, thus embodying the principle of the people, the source of powers and this constitution also set management mechanisms democratic governance and a clear and explicit separation of powers."
     
     
    "We refer to the set of Iraqi laws that were enacted over different periods of time since the establishment of the modern Iraqi state as we talk about the legislative leadership of Iraq," he continued. "There are many important laws that distinguish Iraq from other countries in the region."
     
    "In light of the rapid development witnessed by the world in all fields, the case requires that this system keep pace with this development that responds to all the requirements of life in a way that guarantees human rights and achieves good governance, and this is what we seek within the framework of Iraq's vision for sustainable development 2020–2030," he explained. "Today we celebrate the Iraqi Legislation Day with the rest of the institutions of the Iraqi state to emphasize the progress in the development of the legislative system in all its details."
     
    He declared, "The Iraqi judiciary and legislation must receive all necessary support and empowerment, which inevitably necessitates integration within the role chain between the three judicial, legislative, and executive authorities."
