The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, today, Thursday, considered the killing of about 20,000 and the injury of more than 52,000 others in Gaza within 3 months to be a “horrific matter,” and demanded an end to what he described as the massacre in Gaza and an immediate ceasefire. .
Ghebreyesus said on the “X” platform: “The fact that we are talking about the killing of 20,000 people, most of them children and women, and the injury of more than 52,000 in about 3 months, is horrific, and above all a disgrace to humanity.”.
He added, "The situation in Gaza for the people trapped inside it has become like hell on earth.".
Ghebreyesus said: “About 300 people are dying every day in Gaza on average as the fighting intensifies, especially in light of the collapse of the health system, as only 9 hospitals are partially functioning out of 36 hospitals in Gaza, noting that all hospitals in northern Gaza have stopped working.”.
He continued: "Disease, hunger, and lack of clean water and sanitation pose additional risks beyond bombs and bullets."
