The Independent High Electoral Commission IHEC announced on, Wednesday, the registration of more than 500 international and local organizations to monitor the electoral process, while counting the polling staff number and those involved in private voting.
"The observers number during the upcoming provincial council elections has reached more than 500 international and local organizations, registered to monitor the electoral process", said the director of procedures and training at the commission, Daoud Salman Khdeir, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added that" The most important controls during the electoral silence are the cessation of electoral propaganda, conferences and propaganda on social networking sites ", stressing "the presence of more than 906 monitoring teams deployed in all governorates and registration centers to monitor violations".
He pointed out that “The polling staff number participating in the general and special election day amounted more than 420 thousand employees, while the special ballot voters amounted more than 900 thousand ".
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister decided, earlier, to set the date of the provincial council elections on December 18th.
