Oil Minister chairs the second ministerial session on energy, environment and sustainable development

    Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed on Tuesday that fossil fuels will remain the main source of energy in the whole world.
     
    A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani, chaired the second ministerial session on energy, environment and sustainable development.”
     
    During the session, Abdul Ghani stressed that “the necessity of preserving oil as a strategic commodity for producing countries because their economies depend on oil energy sources as a major resource.”
     
    The statement pointed to "the importance of the traditional energy sector and energy transformations in the Arab countries and their various paths, including the transition to renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and the common Arab market for electricity and green hydrogen."
     
    It added, “The Arab countries are oil-producing countries, not emissions-producing countries, and the emissions come from consumers, and they must contribute with us in developing special technologies to reduce their effects on the environment and climate,” indicating that “the Arab countries produce oil, but thermal emissions come from countries industries that use this oil must increase the efficiency of their equipment to take advantage of this energy to reduce harmful emissions.”
     
    The statement continued: "We are all working to promote and support renewable and clean energy sources and projects, and our projects on the ground confirm this."
     
    Participating in the second ministerial session on energy, environment and sustainable development was Mohammed Al-Mubarak, Minister of Oil of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saad Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Barrak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil and Minister of State for Economy and Economy of the State of Kuwait, Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary-General Supervising African Petroleum Products, Su Yu. Shi Nakao, CEO of the Japan Petroleum Cooperation Center, Abdullah Fahd Al-Shami, Director-General of the Arab Planning Institute, Amina Ben Khadra, Director-General of the National Hydrocarbon Institute in the Kingdom of Morocco, and Jamila Matar, Director of the Energy Department at the League of Arab States.
