The US State Department commends the Iraqi government's achievements in combating corruption

    The Federal Commission of Integrity-FCOI and the US State Department discussed on Saturday extending cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating corruption.
    “The Commissioner of FCOI, Judge Haider Hanoun, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iraq and Iran Victoria Tylor, discussed extending cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of combating corruption and recovering its revenues,” stated FCOI in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
     
    Judge Hanoun stressed, during the meeting that took place at the headquarters of the US State Department, “Iraq’s need to help countries of the world in extraditing convicts and recovering smuggled revenues,” indicating that “concluding bilateral memorandums of cooperation is sufficient to remove obstacles that may obstruct the process of extraditing defendants and recovering smuggled funds.”
     
    He noted that " Iraq has achieved remarkable successes in the field of anti-corruption, both in the deterrent investigative aspect and in increasing the seizures Ops and in the preventive field, one of the results of the campaign (from where did you get this?) which did not exclude even senior officials".
     
    The Commissioner of FCOI renewed “Iraq’s commitment to the United Nations Convention against Corruption and full compliance with its decisions, whether at the level of legislation supporting regulatory bodies or the issuance of strict judicial rulings against the corrupt,” noting that "The diplomatic effort is well underway to bring together point of views and conclude cooperation and understanding agreements with countries, particularly the United States of America, as we are present today to bring space closer and shorten the time."
     
    For her part, Victoria Taylor affirmed, "her country will continue to support the Iraqi government, and strengthen cooperation and partnership in all fields," praising "Iraq's recent steps in combating corruption, expressing its readiness to assist the regulatory agencies, in order to facilitate their mission to undermine and eradicate corruption."
