Oil: We signed gas investment in all fields

    The Ministry of Oil confirmed today, Friday, the signing of contracts to invest gas in all fields, and while it counted its current invested quantities, it indicated that important steps had been achieved to increase national production, pointing out that Iraq had stopped tons of pollutants and fulfilled its obligations towards the Paris Agreement.

    Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministries of Oil and Electricity have overcome many challenges and obstacles, and we have achieved progress within the framework of joint coordination within the fuel plan,” indicating that “there is a fuel plan being developed in partnership between the Ministries of Oil and Electricity to meet The Ministry of Electricity's fuel needs.

    He added, "The Ministry of Oil met all of the Ministry of Electricity's fuel needs in the past years, and helped deliver fuel to stations, import it, and provide alternatives when gas was not available, in addition to providing large quantities of fuel to factories with the aim of operating generators, including private generators for the private sector." Pointing out, “The Ministry of Oil is equipping the stations with natural gas.”.

    He stated, "Several types of fuel are consumed by electrical stations, including crude oil, black oil, and gas oil, and all their quantities are provided by the Ministry of Oil daily and also provide the consumer needs for home and private generators, factories, departments, and ministries, all the way to electrical power stations.".

    At the same time, Jihad stressed, “Important steps have been achieved to increase national gas production in implementation of the government program’s provisions,” noting that “the Ministry of Oil has signed several contracts for gas investment projects in all oil fields that emit associated gas,” pointing out that “The most important of these projects is the contract concluded with the French company Total to invest 600 million standard cubic feet per day from five fields in Basra Governorate.”

    Jihad stated, “The Ministry has made great progress in investing in the Halfaya gas field, which will provide up to 300 million standard cubic feet per day, in addition to investing in gas in the Dhi Qar fields, which will provide up to 200 million standard cubic feet per day, in addition to the existence of contracts to invest in Basra gas.” It reaches 1,000 million standard cubic feet from three important fields,” explaining, “These will provide large quantities in total.”
