United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Zionist aggression since last October 7, which puts international peace and security at risk y, stressing the necessity of declaring a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
In an unprecedented message to the Security Council reported by Wafa Agency today, Guterres said: “We face a great danger represented by the collapse of the humanitarian system in Gaza Strip. The situation is rapidly deteriorating towards a catastrophe that may have irreversible consequences for the Palestinians and for peace and security in the region.” Calling on the international community to assume its responsibility and avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.
Guterres explained that the humanitarian aid passing through the Rafah crossing is insufficient, and that the United Nations is unable to reach those who need it within the Strip. He said, “The capabilities of the United Nations and its partners in the humanitarian field have been undermined by the lack of supplies and fuel and the interruption of communications.”
