Interior minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari stressed on ,Sunday ,the importance of working at the Joint Coordination Center to strengthen the security of Iraq and Iran.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari met today, at the headquarters of the federal police forces, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammad Bagheri , where the minister welcomed the guest at the beginning of the meeting and discussed with him a number of topics of common interest, foremost of which is coordination and joint cooperation between the two neighboring countries".
According to the statement Al-Shammari stressed that "the importance of working in the Joint Coordination Center to enhance the security of the two countries, especially in securing the Iraqi-Iranian borders, combating drugs and Psychotropic Substances, and intensifying work in the intelligence field", noting that "the ministry is keen to strengthen the bonds of bilateral relations”.
For his part “the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces thanked the interior minister for his interest in the success of the forty visit, as well as the good reception and warm welcome" , stressing "his country's keenness to support the security and stability of Iraq and work to control the common international borders”.
