PM: Al-Faw city is a vital area for Iraq

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said today, Saturday, that the city of Al-Faw has today become a vital area for Iraq.

    The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani laid the foundation stone for the rehabilitation and construction project of the second corridor of the (Basra-Faw) road, in Basra Governorate."

    He added, "Al-Sudani reviewed the details of the project and the time frames for its completion, and confirmed that the government raised the slogan of services due to the urgent need of citizens for them in various sectors, indicating that the (Basra-Faw) road will end the suffering of the people of Al-Faw district as a result of the poor quality of this road."

    Al-Sudani stated, “Today, the city of Al-Faw has become a vital area for Iraq, and its infrastructure must be upgraded, especially the roads,” stressing, “The Basra-Faw road rehabilitation project, which is being implemented from Basra Governorate’s allocations, is one of the important projects.” In terms of the volume of wheel traffic, whether for transporting citizens or goods.”

    The Prime Minister directed the implementing company to adhere to “timelines and adherence to the required specifications, in accordance with the prepared plan.”

    The statement added, "The length of the (Basra-Faw) road is (90) km in the outbound direction and (65) km in the return direction, and its rehabilitation operations include the implementation of model resting places, the erection of protective fences, and traffic, identification and guidance signs, as well as the laying of an optical cable." With all its details, a length of (75) km, and an electrical network with all accessories for a length of (10) km.
