Iraq wins four positions within various committees in the World Radiocommunication Conference

    The Communications and Media Commission announced today, Friday, that Iraq won four positions during the World Radiocommunication Conference WRC23 held in Dubai.

    The Commission stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Iraq won four positions within the various committees in the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC23) held in the United Arab Emirates during the 20th of November until the 15th of this month of December.”.

    The Commission added: "Iraq won the position of Vice-Chairman of the Fifth Committee concerned with satellite issues and space frequencies, and the position was assigned to the Technical Assistant to the Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission, Engineer Aws Majeed Ghaleb.".

    Also the Commission continued: “Iraq also won membership in three other committees, namely the First, Third, and Seventh Study Committee, which are permanent committees that are responsible for reviewing and studying reports, approving plans for distributing the frequency spectrum globally, and taking all necessary measures to regulate the use of radio frequencies.”.

    It is noteworthy that the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) is held every three or four years to review and revise the radio regulations and international treaties that regulate the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and geostationary and non-geostationary satellite orbits.
