Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, discussed with the British Consul, Rosie Cave, joint cooperation in the field of developing the water resources sector.
A statement by the Ministry of Water Resources, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, received in his office the British Consul, Rosie Cave, and her accompanying delegation, to discuss joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of developing the water resources sector in the country.”
According to the dtatement, "At the begining of the meeting, Minister Dhiyab gave a brief explanation of the water situation and the challenges facing it in light of the lack of water releases, climate change, and the requirements of the Ministry as a body responsible for managing water resources in Iraq, as well as the measures taken to adapt to the current conditions."
"In addition to the Ministry's serious endeavor to change the traditional irrigation system to a more modern one, relying on pipes to transfering water, and the trend is to use non-traditional methods to obtain additional water releases, including treating drainage water for reuse, and by relying on reputable international companies, including British companies, as well as... For his part, the British Consul affirmed her country's readiness to cooperate with the ministry by providing it with expertise and benefiting from modern technologies in the field of developing the water resources sector and the readiness of British companies to work in the field of the water sector.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Planning and Follow-up.
