Minister of Planning: The Government has taken important steps in less than a year

    Planning Minister Mohamed Tamim stressed, the need to chart new paths for development, while noting that the government has taken important steps in less than a year.
     
    Tamim said in a speech during the 1st conference to prepare the National Development Plan, attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The participation in the work of the 1st conference to prepare the next five-year National Development Plan for the year 2024-2028, organized by the Ministry of planning in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), represents an important opportunity to draw a new picture of the future of development in Iraq and arrange a development strategy at the institutional level in line with the directives of the government program, confront climate change, develop human capital, achieve digital transformation and ensure the course of future directions ”.
     
    He added that "the circumstances and serious challenges faced by Iraq over the past years effected the current situation ", noting that "it is our duty to turn these challenges into opportunities for success in all sectors of development”.
     
    He continued that " The time has come to draw new paths for development through which to reach the goals and performance that it seeks to achieve, and to adopt a focused plan for Iraq’s vision for Sustainable Development 2030, as well as the government program, strategy and plans for sectoral public policies, international treaties and agreements established by Iraq, In addition to economic diplomacy, international and development companies”.
     
    He pointed out that "the projects of ending traffic jams in the capital, starting the implementation of new residential cities, moving forward with the Development Road Project and focusing on addressing the stalled projects, especially the hospital, water and sanitation projects, as well as the inclusion of vital and strategic projects with ensuring the best conditions, foremost of which is the success in issuing a budget for three years to ensure the implementation of these projects ".
     
    He explained that "The participation of the legislative and executive authorities at the highest levels, experts from the private sector, the international community and civil society will give the plan prospects through full commitment to its goals and tracks and the ability to face challenges, especially related to climate change, population increase, transformation towards a better economy and the advancement of the health sector, education, housing, infrastructure, services and private sector development".
