The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed today, Friday, the continuation of its diplomatic efforts to achieve the aspirations of all Iraqis and enhance the image of Iraq as a country with a distinguished depth of civilization.

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “On the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I extend my sincere congratulations and blessings to the ministry’s diplomats and all those working in its center and in our diplomatic and consular missions around the world, and to our Iraqi people, their government, and their political leadership.” “On this dear national occasion.”.

He added, "The Ministry has made great efforts over decades to strengthen the status of the Iraqi state at various levels and arenas in the world, starting from the day of its founding on November 23, 1924. It played a vital role in implementing Iraq's foreign policy and defending its national interests, and faced challenges." Many and diverse, but it was able to prove its strength and determination in facing these challenges and achieving national goals in strengthening political, economic, commercial, cultural and educational relations, and deepening mutual understanding and cooperation.”.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs continued, according to the statement, “The Ministry sought, through its active participation in international organizations and conferences, to enhance international peace and security, adopt the values of justice and protect human rights. It also worked to support just Arab, Islamic and global causes, and confront terrorism and extremism that threaten the stability of the region and the world.”.

Hussein stressed that "the Ministry, with the support of the government, worked diligently to achieve the interests and protect national sovereignty, and to enhance the image of Iraq as a country with a distinct depth of civilization.".

He pointed out, "On this precious national occasion, as we prepare in one year to celebrate the centenary of Iraqi diplomacy, we pledge to our great people that we will continue our diplomatic efforts in order to achieve the aspirations of all Iraqis for stability and prosperity.".
