According to a statement by the PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) “Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani received the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar, and his accompanying delegation”.
The meeting addressed cooperation between Iraq and Türkiye in the energy sector and explored opportunities for further development. Discussions also focused on efforts to resume meetings of the Joint Economic Committee at its 19th session and ongoing work related to the export of Iraqi oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted Iraq's readiness to resolve issues, including resuming oil exports, emphasizing a commitment to fair solutions within constitutional limits in dealings with neighboring countries.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted Iraq's concerns regarding the water file, emphasizing the efforts for optimal water usage, particularly in agriculture. He expressed Iraq's hope for increased cooperation from Türkiye in this crucial area, given its significant economic and humanitarian impact. The Prime Minister also mentioned the strategic Development Road Project, underscoring its potential for fostering steady growth across various joint economic sectors.
During the meeting, both countries' positions on the ongoing events in Gaza were discussed, highlighting a shared vision on the Palestinian issue. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Türkiye's clear stance against the condemned attacks on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources conveyed to the Prime Minister
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's greetings and Türkiye's desire for increased cooperation in various fields.
