Oil Ministry Announces Its Gas Plan for Next Year

    The Ministry of Oil, on Sunday, announced the upcoming measure within the plan for the coming year 2024, which will contribute to solving the gas crisis and reducing its import, while confirming the existence of interest and government direction to increase gas production.
     
    The adviser of the Ministry of oil, Abdul Baqi Khalaf, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA )that  "The government and the Ministry of oil are interested in gas projects because of their importance in the energy industry in Iraq, and reducing emissions at the same time" ,pointing out that "according to the ministry's plans drawn in the coming year 2024, at least 700 million cubic feet of gas will be added in the second phase projects of Basra ngl , AL- halafaya 300 project and Al- Nasiriyah project".
     
    Khalaf explained that" this amount is equivalent to more than half of the fler gas released currently “, stressing that "this will contribute to solving the gas crisis, and constitutes more than half of Iraq's gas imports”.
     
    He pointed out that "the sixth round of gas projects and the government's interest in the mansouriya and akkaz fields reflect the state's interest in increasing our gas production to reduce the gap in electricity demand that currently exists in the country, and therefore things are moving towards increasing our gas capacity”.
