Jihad added, "Since these refineries were subjected to sabotage and destruction during the war on the terrorist gangs ISIS, as the percentage of destruction in many of the facilities of this complex reached more than 90 percent."
Pointing out that "the Ministry, with the national effort of workers in the Northern Refineries Company, oil companies and permanent companies, and with the available capabilities, was able to rehabilitate and reconstruct these refineries, which produce 120-130 thousand barrels."
He pointed out that "the Ministry, during the past months, began rehabilitating and reconstructing the northern refineries, and developed a plan to complete, rehabilitate and reconstruct the northern refineries with a capacity of 150 thousand barrels per day, in the first quarter of next year," expecting "the project to be completed before the specified time limit."
He explained, “When this project is completed and opened, the capacity of the refinery will be between 270 to 280 thousand barrels per day, and thus it will provide many local needs, whether for electric power stations or the provision of oil derivatives, Thus, the Ministry of Oil has succeeded in rebuilding in a record period and returning production to high levels.”
He continued, "The Ministry of Oil had previously sent an invitation to international companies to invest in a group of refineries in the governorates of Iraq from Basra to Dhi Qar, Maysan, Diwaniyah, Kirkuk and Nineveh, and any request submitted by the companies that is consistent with the Ministry's plans and achieves its goals will be welcomed."
He stressed that "there is great progress achieved in the refinery sector through the opening of the Karbala refinery, the derivatives of which are currently available in fuel filling stations," noting that "there is great progress in the Al-Azmra project in the southern refineries, and there is more than one project, including a project with a capacity of 55 thousand barrels and another will be opened in the near future.”
Regarding the associated gas in the Kirkuk fields, Jihad said: “All quantities of gas are invested according to production in the Kirkuk fields, and when production increases, the quantities invested increase,” pointing out that “electric power stations and other sectors, meaning the electric energy invested, are supplied through investing in the associated gas.”
