The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed today, Thursday, the necessity of urgently bringing humanitarian aid into Palestine.
Al-Maliki’s media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the delegation of the Iranian Shura Council headed by Ibrahim Azizi and in the presence of the Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Muhammad Kadhim Al-Sadiq, and during the meeting, developments in the political and security situation were discussed in the region, and the Zionist aggression and genocidal crimes witnessed in the occupied Palestinian territories against the Palestinian people.”.
Al-Maliki stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of strengthening relations between Baghdad and Tehran in various fields, considering the exchange of visits and delegations between the two countries contribute to consolidating the principle of cooperation and coordination to serve the interests of the two neighboring peoples.".
He reaffirmed "Iraq's position in support of the Palestinian cause and the necessity of stopping the aggression, protecting civilians, and bringing in humanitarian aid urgently," calling on "the international community to assume its responsibilities in stopping the crimes of genocide committed by Zionist gangs against the oppressed Palestinian people."
In turn, Azizi affirmed his country's desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq, coordinate positions on issues of concern to Islamic peoples, foremost among which is the Palestinian issue, solidarity and standing with the Palestinian people, and working on the necessity of stopping the war on the Gaza Strip.
