Dangerous drug dealing networks arrested: Interior ministry

    The Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday arresting the most prominent and dangerous drug dealing networks.
     
    A ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that "the General Directorate of narcotics affairs, under the directives of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and the supervision of the minister of Interior, carried out the second major deterrence operation in the history of Iraq and arrest the most prominent and dangerous networks of drug dealing.

     The statement added that "the security operation was carried out successfully and resulted in the arrest of (16,399) involved in the drug crime, including (9,600) criminals who were sentenced to death sentence, life imprisonment and others".
     
    it stressed that "the operation witnessed the seizure of (3) and a half tons of various types of narcotic substances, (1,650,000) pills of psychotropic substances, (943) firearms, (173) explosive grenades and (1,596) vehicles," pointing out that "the operation led to the killing of (13) drug dealers and the injury of (11) others, the martyrdom of (3) security members and the injury of (23) others."
