The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and the Speaker of the Parliament, Muhammed Al-Halbousi, reaffirmed their rejection of attempts to displace the Palestinians.
“The President of the Republic met with the Speaker of the Parliament in Baghdad. During the meeting, the political situation in the country and coordination mechanisms between the Parliament and the Presidency of the Republic in submitting and approving important legislation were discussed,” according to a statement by the Presidency’s Media Department, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The meeting discussed "developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the importance of making political and diplomatic efforts to stop the aggression as well as the continuing bombing of civilians."
They also reaffirmed "Iraq's firm and official position in rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinians and their right to establish a Palestinian state with Holy Jerusalem as its capital."
