Iraq-Iran Science Week kicks off with participation of 60 universities

    The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Saturday the launch of Iraq-Iran Science Week, with the participation of sixty universities and institutions from both countries.
     
    "The Science Week between the two countries summarizes the level of understanding and coordination resulting from the agreement between the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic and complements the dialogues held in the capital Baghdad," The Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, Haider Abd Dahd, who headed the delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the presence of public and private universities, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    He added, "The excellence that the universities of the two countries hold in terms of producing scientific research and global competition in important classifications makes them worthy of occupying positions referred to in sober academic institutions and platforms, and opens up for the two countries more spaces for partnership and cooperation in many fields and understandings regarding scientific research, development programs and mutual cooperation."
     
    He pointed out, "The Iraqi delegation, which includes a high-ranking official representation from the Ministry of Education and its universities, indicates a positive indication of interest in developing joint scientific cooperation programs between the universities of the two countries and achieving the desired level of relations with an effective impact on cultural exchange and scientific and academic expertise."
     
    For his part, the Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology for International Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Wahid Haddadi Asl, stressed “the importance of exchanging experiences and expertise and formulating scientific understandings on many files, some of which relate to the environmental aspect and joint educational programs.”
     
     
    the President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Muhammad Kafi, explained, “The universities of the two countries are keen on the success of the joint discussions and reaching a vision that serves the scientific and research aspect between the two sides.”
     
    The opening activities of Science Week, which continues until the 12th  of October, included a number of official speeches, including those of the Director General of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher, cultural advisors, and scientific presentations on the importance of academic education and the level of understanding between Iraqi and Iranian universities.
