The Independent High Electoral Commission-IHEC elaborated on Saturday the mechanism for organizing electoral campaigns.
“The Commission adopts controls in organizing electoral campaigns and preventing expenditure exaggeration,” IHEC head of the media team, Imad Jamil, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA). “ explaining that “exaggeration has no perspective, as money is sometimes paid to people for the purpose of achieving benefits in the voting and election process, but the Commission monitors what is apparent, in addition to the reports that we receive from concerned sides or parties participating in the political process, such as parties, candidates, citizens, and even the media.”
Jamil added that “IHEC has an electoral system to work for, namely, the non-use of State offices and state funds, as well as the not to hire the foreign funds, in addition, it has considerable monitoring by its teams of approximately 906 monitoring teams deployed throughout the governorates in addition to central committees of up to 16 that monitor these cases with reports and send them to the National Office to be referred to the legal authority for legal confirmation ".
"IHEC penalties may be financial penalties of up to 50 million or legal by referring the violators to the courts, which may impose a penalty of up to one year's imprisonment, in addition to preventing the candidate if he uses sectarian slogans, incites sedition, or insults other candidates, or is proven that he used State or foreign funds, thereby the penalty may reach to exclusion from nomination.” he continued.
