The Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring announced Thursday, that 48 earthquakes were recorded during September, while indicating that 35 earthquakes occurred inside Iraq.
The Director General of the Authority, Abdul-Azim Al-Saadi, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the number of earthquakes recorded during September reached (48) earthquakes, including (36) earthquakes in Iraq, (11) inside Iran, in addition to one earthquake in Syria".
He explained, "The activity inside the country was concentrated in Sulaymaniyah, Chamchamal District, where the number of tremors there reached (15) tremors, while Erbil recorded (7) tremors and Wasit recorded (6) tremors, in addition to (3) tremors in Nineveh."
He continued, "There were (2) earthquakes in Maysan, while one earthquake was recorded in Kirkuk and another in Diyala," stressing that "the authority, in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Transportation, Razzaq Muhaibas, is working to complete the entry of (28) modern stations to work in monitoring climate changes as soon as possible."
