Presidencies Convene to Discuss National Progress and General Conditions

    Today, the meeting of the presidencies occurred with the participation of Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, President of the Republic Mr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mr. Mohammed Al-Halbousi, and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Mr. Faiq Zaidan.
     
    During the meeting, they discussed the most recent developments, including political and security matters, as well as the overall situation in the country. To start the meeting, they recited Surah Al-Fatihah to honor and remember the souls of the victims of the tragic fire incident in the wedding hall in Al-Hamdaniya District and they expressed their condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and expressed their hopes for a swift recovery for the injured.
     
    The meeting delved into a comprehensive discussion of the fire incident, including its causes. The leaders emphasized the ongoing necessity of providing support and assistance to the families of the victims and the injured individuals.
     
    The leaders examined the outcomes of the Prime Minister's visit to New York, where he participated in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly. They highlighted the global attention Iraq received and the commendation for the government's efforts in improving security, stability, and commitment to sustainable development plans and goals. Iraq's vital role in facilitating cooperation and dialogue among regional countries was also acknowledged.
     
    The leaders emphasized the importance of supporting the government in executing its program, delivering essential services to citizens, revitalizing infrastructure, including the electricity sector, constructing hospitals and schools, improving roadways and bridges, fostering the private sector, and promoting investment opportunities through investor-friendly legislation. They also underscored the significance of consolidating reform efforts by enhancing cooperation. Furthermore, they expressed unity among the presidencies in the fight against corruption and endorsed governmental and judicial measures in this regard.
     
    They firmly rejected any aggression directed at Iraqi territory, emphasizing that such actions run counter to principles of good neighborliness and pose a threat to security and stability both within Iraq and in the wider region. The meeting underlined that addressing problems and differences should be achieved through dialogue, mutual understanding, cooperation, and collaborative coordination.
     
    During the meeting, a proposal was discussed concerning the possibility of granting special amnesty to women and juveniles, with certain serious crimes excluded. Additionally, the presidencies extended their congratulations to the educational community and students on the commencement of the new academic year, expressing hopes for a year filled with success and academic excellence.
