Today, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani oversaw the opening of 146 new schools and the renovation of 1,009 school buildings in different Iraqi governorates via teleconference from the Ministry of Education building.

During his meeting with the Ministry of Education leadership, the Prime Minister emphasized the crucial need to enhance school infrastructure. Schools, alongside teachers and students, form the essential foundation of the educational process, and it is unacceptable for Iraqi students to study in substandard conditions such as mud or makeshift caravan schools.

Al-Sudani outlined the government's approach to school construction, focusing on the Iraq Fund for Development program with private sector involvement to streamline the process. This aims to bypass the previously slow and complicated mechanisms. He instructed education directors in Baghdad and the governorates to promptly prepare project plans and priorities for their respective areas and present them to the governors for action.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the significance of supporting teachers, addressing their needs, qualifications, and training. He underscored the utmost importance of resolving housing concerns for educational sector workers. The government has also made significant strides by appointing and welcoming thousands of educators, effectively addressing this longstanding issue and ensuring its completion.

Prime Minister also stressed the importance of implementing activities for student qualification and development. He also called for concerted effort to execute well-organized campaigns led by the Ministry and Education Directorates to re-engage students who had dropped out. Moreover, he emphasized leveraging the government's program to support impoverished families, as proposed through the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Additionally, the activation of compulsory education laws and prevention of student dropout through specialized committees in the governorates were highlighted as essential steps.

The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of resolving the persistent issue of supplying textbooks and educational materials through transparent and consistent mechanisms. He also stressed the importance of preventing the political exploitation of education directorates in both Baghdad and the governorates. His directive included keeping service work and state institutions separate from political competition during election seasons to ensure efficient and unbiased functioning.
