Health minister Saleh Al-Hasnawi confirmed on Wednesday the formation of a crisis cell on the incident of Al-Hamdaniya fire.
Al-Hasnawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "health measures were taken from the first moment of the incident of Al-Hamdaniya fire," pointing to the transfer of some cases to hospitals in Mosul, Dohuk and Erbil.
"A central crisis cell has been formed to manage operations with the health departments in the provinces," he added, noting that "Kirkuk province provided ambulances and treatments for the injured.
"650 plasma vials have been provided, as well as blood bags and important equipment," he said, explaining that "health coverage from the therapeutic point of view is good and all the procedures needed by the health staff are available".
"The degrees of the injured vary between moderate to severe and very severe burns, and there are cases of suffocation only without burns," he said, noting that "the health staff is doing its best".
"The latest statistics of the incident show that 93 people died, and 101 people were injured by burns and suffocation" Al-Hasnawi said.
