Al-Maliki receives the ambassador of Turkey

    The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the government is continuing to implement sustainable development projects, while noting that there is a keenness to create an attractive environment for foreign investment.

    The media office of the head of the State of Law coalition said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Ali Riza Güney ,” indicating that “the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the political and security situation and the repercussions of regional and international events, international relations, and Iraq’s relations with Turkey in various fields, as well as deliberating on Turkey’s contribution to the development road project alongside the rest of the neighboring countries, and the file of shared waters.”

    Al-Maliki stressed, according to the statement, that “the government is continuing to implement sustainable development projects, as well as implementing the Development Road Project, as it is a vital regional project important for Iraq and Turkey,” explaining that “There must be joint work between the two countries in order to consolidate and strengthen relations in all economic and development sectors.” 

    He pointed out that "There is a keenness to create an attractive environment for foreign investment, and to provide ways to develop promising investment opportunities for foreign companies to invest in Iraq," pointing out that "Turkish companies played an important role in the construction process in Iraq."

    For his part, the Turkish ambassador delivered "President Erdogan's invitation to the head of the State of Law coalition to visit Turkey," stressing "his country's desire to resolve the outstanding issues between the two countries."

    He pointed out that "the coming period will witness a qualitative shift in the development of relations between the two countries."
