Iraq is ready to cooperate with IAEA

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, head of the Atomic Energy Commission, Naim al-Aboudi, stressed on Tuesday, the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency- IAEA on the fields of clean energy.
 
A statement from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received by the Iraqi News Agency INA, said that "The Minister Of Higher Education And Scientific Research, head of the Atomic Energy Commission, Naim al-Aboudi met with the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Mariano Grossi".
 
The statement added that "the two sides discussed the support of the International Agency for Iraq in the peaceful use of Atomic Energy in many scientific fields that serve the environment of sustainable development and its goals.
al-Aboudi stressed that "The importance of cooperation with the IAEA in the field of fragmentation and production of radioisotopes, enabling Iraq to fight cancer, support the agricultural sector, insect control, desalination of well water for agriculture, the use of clean energy in electricity production, combating climate change and strengthening knowledge programs in nuclear specialties in universities and academic institutions”.
 
 
For his part, Rafael Mariano Grossi expressed his "desire to visit Iraq and the support of the International Agency for the peaceful use of energy".
