Al-Sudani receives a delegation from ALU

 Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed on Sunday, the government’s keenness to deal and interact with trade unions and professional federations.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received today a delegation from the Arab Lawyers Union (ALU), headed by the Secretary-General of the Union, Al-Makawi bin Issa, and in the presence of the President of the Bar from various Arab countries  in addition to the Iraqi Bar Association,” noting that “the Prime Minister blessed the holding of the Arab Lawyers Union conference in Baghdad, after a break of more than 30 years, as well as the meeting of the Union’s permanent office in Iraq."

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed: "The Government is keen to deal and interact with trade unions and professional federations as a faculty of State institutions, and  Since the first days of the formation of the Supreme Committee for Coordination between the Council of Ministers, federations and trade unions, it has strengthened the mechanism for interaction."

Prime Minister referred to "Iraq's historical legacy in the field of enacting laws and laws, which places it in front of the responsibility of sponsoring and hosting activities related to legal work," noting that "the political and constitutional system in Iraq granted the judiciary complete independence and strengthened its position."

Al-Sudani expressed his appreciation for “the Union’s positions in support of Iraq in facing the challenges in its war on ISIS and terrorism,” reiterating “Iraq’s condolences and solidarity with the victims of natural disasters in Morocco and Libya."

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Union expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and good organization provided by Iraq, pointing out his “continuous support for holding the Union’s meetings in Baghdad."
