Due to high temperatures, thousands were transferred to Japanese hospitals last August

    The Japanese Ministry of Administrative Affairs revealed today, Friday, that at least 34,800 people were transferred to the country’s hospitals last August due to exposure to sunstroke resulting from abnormal heat.

    The Ministry, which supervises the work of rescue agencies, added that this indicator increased by 70% compared to the same period last year.

    The ministry continued, “This caused the death of 48 people, and 11.1 thousand others were admitted to hospital in moderately serious condition.”.

    The largest number of these incidents was recorded in Tokyo, where 2,200 people were admitted to hospitals last month due to symptoms of heat stroke, and the fastest deterioration of these incidents was observed. Dynamics in the two northern prefectures, Hokkaido and Akita, and in these two regions, the number of affected people has increased 10 times compared to August 2022.
