    The Ministry of Environment announced the opening of future cooperation horizons between Iraq and the United Kingdom in reducing climate change.

    The Ministry stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Minister of Environment Nizar Aamidi received the British Ambassador to Iraq at the Ministry’s headquarters, and congratulated the British Ambassador for assuming his duties as the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Baghdad.”.

    The Minister of Environment stressed "opening future horizons of cooperation in the field of reducing the impact of climate change with the United Kingdom and strengthening partnerships in other environmental files," pointing to "the Iraqi government's interest in benefiting from the technological expertise in the United Kingdom in implementing sustainable projects.".

    Amidi stated, “The importance of strengthening joint cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom in the environment and climate change sector through implementing joint projects and programs that focus on protecting and improving the environment and helping Iraq implement its obligations in the Paris Climate Agreement,” explaining, “Iraq’s readiness for the twenty-eighth Conference of the Parties on Climate Change.” In Dubai and the negotiating vision for Iraq.

    For his part, the British ambassador stressed "the United Kingdom government's interest in cooperating with Iraq in the fields of energy and pollution control.".

    The two sides agreed, according to the statement, to "hold bilateral meetings for the delegations of the two countries during the Dubai Climate Conference to open future horizons of cooperation in the field of reducing the impact of climate change."
