Iraq to play with Portugal in a friendly match

    The Iraqi Football Association announced that it had reached a preliminary agreement with its Portuguese counterpart to hold a friendly match between the Mesopotamia Lions and Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates, if international conditions and timings permit.
     
    A statement by the media channel of the Football Association, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “this agreement was reached after the visit made by the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, to the headquarters of the Portuguese Federation in the city of Lisbon, in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Portugal (Adel Mustafa) and the President of the Portuguese Football Federation (Fernando Gomez).”
     
    The statement added, "The agreement also included enhancing means of joint cooperation between the two federations at all technical, administrative, and arbitration levels, and exchanging experiences through holding joint training courses and workshops, as well as holding friendly matches at the age group level and the national team, if international circumstances and timings permit."
