The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim, called for launching a comprehensive national campaign to reduce the rate of illiteracy.
"On International Literacy Day, we aspire to launch a comprehensive national campaign to reduce the prevalence of illiteracy in Iraqi society, especially in rural areas, and to take solid scientific steps to rid the country of its consequences and to spread the culture of science, learning and knowledge among society, and to expand the horizon of cooperation among all institutions to reduce the effects of illiteracy," said Al-Hakim in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
