The Iraqi national football team defeated its Indian counterpart on penalties, 5-4, to qualify for the final match of the 49th King of Thailand Cup.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, in the match that took place at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in the Thai city of Chiangmai.
The first half ended in a positive draw with one goal for both teams. The Indian team scored first in the 16th minute through player Norem, while the Iraqi team's equalizer goal came from a penalty kick successfully executed by player Ali Al Hammadi in the 28th minute.
In the second half, the Indian team's second goal came in the 51st minute as a result of a grave mistake committed by Iraqi national team goalkeeper Jalal Hassan when he received a light, easy cross ground ball from the Indian striker, and instead of catching it, he deposited it with his hand inside his goal.
In the 80th minute, the referee of the match awarded a second penalty kick for Iraq, from which they scored. Ayman Hussein scored the equalizer for the Iraqi team, and in the 90th minute + 4, the referee of the match sent off the Iraqi team player, Zidane Iqbal, by flashing a red card to his face after he deliberately hit the Indian player with the opposite hand, and the match went to penalty kicks, ending in favor of our team with a score of 5-4.
