Alawadi: The foundation stone of Basra - Shalamcheh railway project will be laid tomorrow

Iraqi Government Spokesman Basim Alawadi stated in an official statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA that “After the Ministry of Transportation and Basra Governorate confirmed the Resolution (23333), pertaining to the Basra - Shalamcheh railway project, the foundation stone will be laid tomorrow to mark the commencement of this vital project that is linking Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran and facilitating the transportation of visitors and pilgrims. This significant regional transport project will also aid in transporting visitors and pilgrims from Central Asian nations to Iraq.” 
 
Alawadi said according to the statement that “This project serves as the first step in a series of strategic transport initiatives connecting Iraq with its neighboring countries. After years of discussion and research, the government is now actively working on its implementation, marking a significant milestone.”
