Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari announced on Wednesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding with his Jordanian counterpart.

Al-Shammari said during a press conference held in the Jordanian capital Amman, and attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We arrived today to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and were received by the Jordanian Minister of Interior," noting that "a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Iraqi and Jordanian Interior Ministries."

"The memorandum of understanding included co-ordination and co-operation in the fields of security, border control, combating drugs, facilitating the granting of residency and entry visas to Jordanian and Iraqi citizens, and exchanging security expertise such as training and joint co-operation," he said.

"This memorandum is moving to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two ministries in particular and between the two countries in general, allowing security and stability in both countries and combating cross-border crime and others," he said, noting that "this is clear progress in the field of security and stability in the two countries."
