Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi discussed, today, Tuesday, with a delegation from the Human Rights Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, headed by Samuel Cogolati, cooperation in the field of human rights.
A statement by the Media Office of the Speaker of Parliament, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi received today a delegation of the Human Rights Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union headed by Samuel Cogolati, and in the presence of the head of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, Arshad al-Salhi, and the deputy head of the committee, Wahda al-Jumaili."
The statement added, "During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues related to human rights and relevant legislation, and the mechanism of cooperation between the Human Rights Committees in the House of Representatives and the Inter-Parliamentary Union."
It continued, "The meeting also discussed developments in the follow-up of the case of former member of Parliament Ahmed Al-Alwani by the Human Rights Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union."
