President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received on Sunday, a written message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "The President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received today a written message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune," noting that "the written message included an invitation to the President of the Republic to participate in the work of the seventh summit of the Forum of States gas export, which is to be held in Algeria in early March."
The statement added, "This came during the meeting of the President of the Republic, today at the Baghdad Palace, the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Iraq, Jihad Eddin Belkas," noting that "the President welcomed the Ambassador, conveying his greetings and thanks to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for his kind invitation."
Rashid stressed, according to the statement, "Iraq's keenness to strengthen relations and expand the horizons of constructive cooperation between the two countries in a way that serves common interests and contributes to the consolidation of security and stability in the region."
